LECTURE WITH CHRISTIAN LOEBEN
LECTURE WITH CHRISTIAN LOEBEN

Founded in 1889, Museum August Kestner was the first municipal museum of the City of Hanover in Northern Germany. It now proudly bears the name of its founding father Georg Christian August Kestner (1777-1853) who acquired his fine collection of paintings, prints, coins and medals as well as Greco-Roman and Egyptian Antiquities in the first half of the 19th century. It can certainly be considered the world’s first important private collection of Egyptian Art in both quality and quantity and was bequeathed to Hanover with the request that a museum be built to house it. The lecture will acquaint the audience with a little-known German museum; a treasure house still to be discovered! .For more information call 389-7200 or visit www.lsumoa.org
