The LSU Museum of Art is in downtown Baton Rouge and acts as a “Gateway” for the University to share its vast cultural resources with the community at large and with visitors to the city. Housed in the stunning Shaw Center for the Arts, the LSU Museum of Art has attracted new collections to match its surroundings. While still showing decorative arts and in particular the ceramics of Newcomb College and New Orleans Silver, the primary thrust of the Museum is now on visual arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. Expect to see paintings, graphics, sculpture and photography from the very best artists in the South. A variety of educational programs and events designed to complement the permanent collection and visiting exhibitions are scheduled throughout the year. The LSU Museum Store, located on the first floor, offers a variety of unique gifts including arts and crafts by local artists. All of this can be experienced with the added benefits of a membership to the LSU Museum of Art.
