RIVER ROAD LANE REDUCTION/BIKE PATHS
The proposed lane reduction of this portion of US 61 (River Road) from four lanes to three lanes is consistent with adopted downtown Baton Rouge master plan recommendations to more safely connect the central business district to the Mississippi Riverfront by creating a more pedestrian friendly environment for visitors. This project will continue the three lane condition currently found on River Road south of Florida Street to Phlox Avenue in the north part of downtown. In conjunction with the lane reduction, DOTD is proposing the addition of two bicycle lanes and the resurfacing of this section of roadway.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information about the proposed resurfacing and lane reduction, and obtain input from interested parties. DOTD representatives will be present to answer questions, including information about construction timelines and project consistency with master plan recommendations for downtown Baton Rouge.
