TRAIL MARKER DEDICATION |
SEPTEMBER 10TH A trail marker dedication to William Bartram, an American Naturalist, was held this Thursday, September 10th at the South Boulevard Trailhead located at the intersection of South Boulevard and River Road. Bartram's exploration spanned from the Atlantic coast of the Carolinas to the Mississippi River from 1773 - 1777, with his visit to Louisiana recorded in 1775. The dedication ceremony began at 5:30PM with remarks by Charles 'Chip' Groat, President/CEO, Water Institute of the Gulf. Following the dedication, a brief walk along the Riverfront Promenade's Levee Loop featuring native plants will be led by author and horticulturist Randy Harelson. The Beauregard Town Civic Association and the Downtown Development District partnered in the erection of this historical marker. Parking under the interstate can be accessed from Brickyard Lane off of South Boulevard. |
