Design Firm Selected!


Sasaki, a renowned planning and design firm, has been selected to lead Plan Baton Rouge III, the latest masterplan to revitalize Downtown Baton Rouge.

In context: Building upon the successes of previous plans from 1998 and 2009, this project aims to enhance urban development and community engagement. Sasaki, known for their work on the Baton Rouge Lakes and Greenwood Community Park, was chosen from a pool of 23 applicants.

The next step: The planning process is expected to take about a year, with significant community involvement to shape the future of the downtown area. Further details will be released as the project progresses.

Community champions, the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge, Downtown Development District, Visit Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and Baton Rouge Area Foundation have joined together to sponsor Plan Baton Rouge III, an update to downtown’s master planning efforts. This new, forward-looking plan is expected to focus on placemaking, developing new housing units, enhancing the riverfront, improving infrastructure and connectivity, attracting new restaurants and businesses, and highlighting downtown Baton Rouge’s unique arts and cultural potential.
