Placid Refinery
We're delighted to highlight the expansion plans of Placid Refinery, a key player in the energy sector. Port Allen-based Placid Refining Company has purchased the 402 North 4th Street office building and parking lot in Downtown Baton Rouge for nearly $4.8 million. The refinery is set to undergo a significant upgrade, aimed at enhancing its capacity and technological capabilities.

The company expects to create 20 new direct jobs, and retain all 215 current positions at the Port Allen facility. The Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in 88 new indirect jobs, for a total of 108 new jobs in the Capital Region. This expansion not only solidifies Baton Rouge's position as an important hub for the oil and gas industry but also promises job creation and economic growth for our community.
The Residences at Rivermark - Rivermark Centre
The Rivermark Centre is in the heart of Downtown Baton Rouge's central business district. The iconic Rivermark Centre has undergone an exciting transformation, breathing new life into this renowned building. The revitalization efforts included a mix of retail spaces, restaurants, offices, and recreational facilities.

This project aimed to enhance the vibrancy of Downtown Baton Rouge, providing residents and visitors with an enriched experience in this beautifully reimagined space. This 21 story iconic building is within walking distance of local and state government offices, the Louisiana State Capitol, and many of Baton Rouge's finest restaurants as well as everything Baton Rouge’s Downtown CBD has to offer! HNTB Corporation
HNTB, a renowned infrastructure solutions provider and national engineering firm, is moving its Baton Rouge offices from Perkins Rowe into the II Rivermark Centre building.

263 Third Street

The Heron II
The much-anticipated "Heron II" development project is underway at the approved demolition site of 617 North Boulevard, promising another addition to DTBR's modern urban living experience. Similar to the Heron I Downtown, this mixed-use complex will incorporate residential units, retail spaces, and recreational areas, all designed with community in mind.

Heron II reflects DTBR's commitment to creating an inclusive downtown neighborhood that nurtures a high quality of life for its residents. Located in the heart of Downtown Baton Rouge, the new building positions residents in the center of urban life with quick access to the Downtown Greenway and our other green spaces.

The Queen Baton Rouge
This fall, Hollywood Casino will change its name to The Queen Baton Rouge. The casino will also continue to evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs and preferences of its patrons, as well as relocating its operation landside following legislature approval.

The management has invested in renovations and upgrades to enhance the overall experience, ensuring that the Queen Baton Rouge Casino remains a top-notch entertainment destination. The establishment has also supported local organizations, events, and philanthropic endeavors, contributing to the well-being and development of the Baton Rouge community.

The Origin Hotel
The Origin Hotel is slated to open in 2023 and will contain approximately ninety-one rooms.

The hotel sits on North Boulevard near the 19th JDC and is undergoing a renovation. Through modern interior design and amenities, the Origin Hotel will bring a contemporary touch to a classic building that dates back to 1956 and was likely the first drive-through bank in the state. The hotel will also have three top-floor suites overlooking canopies of oak trees on the Downtown Greenway.
