NATIONAL HISTORIC REGISTER BUILDING
Known as the Heidelberg Hotel prior to renovation as the Hilton. The charter of the Heidelberg Hotel with Roy L. Heidelberg, President, JoeC. King, Vice-President, and Barbara S. Heidelberg, Secretary-Treasurer, was recorded on October 12, 1927 (Charter Book 4, p. 372). The hotel was constructed by Alfred C. Glassell, Sr. behind several corporate names during the period 1926 to 1927 and opened its doors in late 1927 or early 1928. Mr. Glassell acquired the property in 1926 for the cash sum of $65,000. The Heidelberg Hotel is significant by virtue of its association with political figures including Huey P. Long.
