DOWNTOWN GREENWAY-VIRTUAL GROUNDBRAKING
Downtown Greenway at BREC’s Expressway Park
Construction has begun on the Downtown Greenway at BREC’s 40 acre Expressway Park. This collaborative project between the Downtown Development District/City Parish and BREC was made possible by the FHWA Recreational Trails Program for Louisiana administered by the Office of State Parks/Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism. The project includes approximately 700 linear feet of new pedestrian and cyclist trail construction connecting Myrtle Avenue to South Boulevard at East Boulevard. In addition to the pathway, trailhead facilities will be created providing bike racks, accessible ramps and connections to the pathway from two parking lots. Construction is being completed by ANR Construction, LLC. This portion of the Downtown Greenway is expected be completed in early fall, celebrated with an official ribbon cutting!
