Matherne’s Market at 440 on Third, a full-service supermarket located in the heart of downtown, is scheduled to officially open and be fully stocked on January 22nd with limited services and goods now available. Matherne’s Market at 440 on Third is located on the bottom floor of a mixed -use development formerly known as the Capital One Building that also includes 65 residential units, USAgencies’ offices, and onsite parking available to market patrons. Recognized as the first full service supermarket downtown in over 50 years and a key recommendation from Plan Baton Rouge II, Matherne’s Market at 440 on Third will bring a variety of services and products that complement the 300 residential units currently under construction in the Central Business District. The market will offer all of the services of a large supermarket and custom urban merchandise featuring a concentration on and custom urban merchandise featuring a concentration on local products, full service deli & catering, smoothies, juice bar, sushi bar, salad bar & fresh fruits, gourmet meat, cheeses from around the world, extensive wine collection, liquor & craft beer selections, fresh produce, floral, and lottery sales. access to a full-service grocery store within a short walking distance, bike car, or bus ride.
