FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

December 6th, 4-9pm: Baton Rouge’s oldest holiday tradition is transforming the winter sky into a wonderland. The Mayor will light North Boulevard with half a million sparkling lights. Experience the magic beneath the 35-foot Christmas tree in North Boulevard Town Square. Enjoy free ice skating and play in six tons of real snow at the Snow Village.

CELEBRATING THREE NEW PUBLIC SPACES

Preceding the Festival of Lights: The City-Parish and the DDD are celebrating the completion of three downtown public spaces on December 6, 2019.

Starting at 3:00pm with North Boulevard Town Square Phase II (North Boulevard @ Fourth Street), followed by Riverfront Plaza (300 S. River Road) at 4:00pm, and the Rotary Centennial Sculpture (Florida Street @ River Road) at 5:00pm.

The night will culminate at 6:00pm with the City's official tree lighting, fireworks, Santa and other activities at Downtown's Festival of Lights.

TREE LIGHTING & FIREWORKS

Mayor Broome will countdown the lighting of the City's Christmas Tree along with half a million sparkling lights on North Boulevard. Experience the magic beneath the 25-foot Christmas tree on North Boulevard and marvel over the elaborate fireworks show on the Mississippi River!

Get into position! The countdown will begin around 6:20pm!

The preferred area for viewing the fireworks will be in North Boulevard at Town Square facing the Christmas Tree and Mississippi River.

SANTA IS COMING!

Santa will assist Mayor Broome to countdown the lighting of Baton Rouge's Christmas Tree! Afterwards you are invited to the Louisiana Old State Capitol for a special photo-op and other holiday festivities. Louisiana’s Old State Capitol will host their annual “Santa in The Senate” on Friday, Dec. 6 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Guests of the Old State Capitol will have the opportunity to take their photo with Mr. & Mrs. Claus in the old Senate Chamber and then enjoy a Christmas film in the old House Chamber.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own cameras or cell phone to take pictures. There will be arts and crafts for children to partake in and a special treat upon existing the building.

SNOW SLEDDING & ICE SKATING

Yes, this is Baton Rouge... but we have real snow for sledding and ice skating! Bring the family to slide on 10 tons of real snow down the Repentance Park hill! Repentance Park is located between the Old State Capitol and River Center. We also have our very own Rockefeller Center style skating rink located on the first floor of the River Center Plaza. Just like in NYC , festival goers can stand around the balcony and look down at the children skating on the plaza!

ARTIST VILLAGE

Produced by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, this year's Artists Village at the Festival of Lights will be located in the City Hall Plaza Lawn. Over 10 local artists will be selling handmade crafts to complete your Christmas shopping list. Along with the artists the festival will include a bake sale, hot chocolate for sale, and multiple food vendors.

REINDEER RUN & JINGLE BELL JOG

Everyone is welcome at Guaranty Media’s Reindeer Run and Jingle Bell Jog benefiting Forum 35 on Friday, December 6th during Downtown Baton Rouge’s Festival of Lights! Jingle Bell Jog, our 1 mile fun run, takes place at 7pm and the Reindeer Run 5K is at approximately 7:20pm!

The holiday fun continues after the race at the Holiday Village on North Boulevard with food, drinks, music and games! Bring the entire family out for the run and enjoy all of the holiday fun!

DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY SPIRIT

Downtown Baton Rouge will be in the holiday spirit with tons of activities going on. Most of the downtown churches and Museums are participating in the evening by having live nativity scenes, giving away hot chocolate, singing Christmas carols, and much more!
