Ancestral Artistry Screening
On November 2nd, The Old Governor's Mansion will be screening Ancestral Artistry, an award-winning film that examines the impact of African-Americans and Creoles of color on the unique architecture that in part defines our State’s aesthetic identity. Produced by the Louisiana Architecture Foundation (LAF), this hour-long documentary chronicles centuries of creative inspiration and celebrates both the designs and designers whose legacies make Louisiana a fabled destination for art enthusiasts of all stripes.
Ancestral Artistry will be shown as part of Free First Sunday, a beloved downtown tradition that every month brings the past to life. The Mansion will be open from noon to 4:00, welcoming the public to explore the decades of history within its walls and to learn about the personalities and politics of the nine men who lived there as Louisiana’s chief leaders. Be sure to mark your calendars for what will certainly be an afternoon of enlightenment for all ages and backgrounds.
