Art After Hours: Opening Reception for "Improvisation: The Art & Healing Power of Jazz"
Mark your calendars for our next Art After Hours on Friday, February 16 from 6 PM – 9 PM, to celebrate the opening of LASM’s newest exhibition on view in The Republic Finance Gallery, Improvisation: The Art and Healing Power of Jazz. This opening reception is generously sponsored by La Capitale (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Admission for this event is free of charge.
Starting in the Adalie Brent Auditorium, the evening will include a welcome from the event sponsor, La Capitale (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, followed by talks from exhibition artists Claudia Hayden and Brandon Lewis. Afterward, visitors are invited to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and drinks in The Bert S. Turner Atrium, with music provided by The Michael Foster Trio, and to tour Improvisation: The Art and Healing Power of Jazz in The Republic Finance Gallery.
Along with diving into the science of jazz music’s health benefits, Improvisation: The Art and Healing Power of Jazz highlights key moments in the history of jazz and how they have impacted the music style we know today. The artists featured in this exhibition, Claudia Hayden, Herman Leonard, Brandon Lewis, and Chuck Stewart, were chosen for their unique visions of jazz, but also for their creative ability to celebrate the therapeutic power of jazz through art and music.
