Capitol Park Museum Blues Lagniappe Kick-Off
Capitol Park Museum & Baton Rouge Blues Festival and Foundation will host the Kick-Off of the Fest with Women and the Blues & Professor Longhair!
Capitol Park Museum is excited to host a program with Baton Rouge Blues Festival. Blues Lagniappe program will feature a panel discussion centered on Women in the Blues at Capitol Park Museum for the April Third Thursday After Hours Program. This event will also be under the partnership in volunteer capacity in tandem with Dialogue on Race Louisiana.
In addition to this enriching program, Capitol Park Museum will have the Me Got Fiyo: The Professor Longhair Centennial exhibition open for viewing. 2019 marked the centennial of the birth of the most beloved and influential pianist in New Orleans history: Henry Roeland Byrd aka Professor Longhair. This exhibit will showcase all things Fess starting with his origins and development to his early hits such as “Tipitina,” “Mardi Gras In New Orleans,” and “Big Chief” to his 1970s comeback, his untimely death, and his continual presence in New Orleans since then.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m, program starts at 5:00 p.m.
