Celebrate the Chuck Wagon Gang's 90th anniversary
Celebrate the Chuck Wagon Gang's 90th anniversary this May! Join the Old Governor's Mansion for a special live performance by one of America's most beloved gospel and country groups.
Formed in 1936 by members of the Carter family in Lubbock, Texas, the Chuck Wagon Gang quickly rose to prominence across the South, producing timeless hits like "I'll Fly Away." Current bandleader Shaye Smith, granddaughter of original member Anna Carter and the late Governor Jimmie Davis leads the group today. OGM Curator, Joseph Ricci will offer a special tour of mansion artifacts connected to Governor Davis, making this a truly unique evening of music and history.
A reception will follow the concert.
