DESIGNING A PRESIDENCY

Louisiana’s Old State Capitol will host Professor Lisa Reynolds for the opening lecture of our newest exhibit, Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer. The lecture, entitled Designing a Presidency, will focus on the trends in visual information and how these intentional design decisions in presidential elections can drive our vote.

Reynolds is an assistant professor of graphic design at Wilkes University and specializes in integrated media. She will focus on the pivotal points of graphic design in presidential elections throughout history and how they influence the way politicians communicate with voters. She also will discuss how intentional design decisions in presidential elections generate support and can change the way we view policy.

The exhibit, Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer, features 56 photographs from ex-Chief Official White House Photographer Pete Souza. The exhibit includes Souza’s favorite images of President Barack Obama and President Ronald Reagan, providing candid moments that are windows into the humanity of two presidents from opposite ends of the political spectrum. This exhibit will be on display July 13-September 25.

This event is being in person with the option to join in virtually. Guests who wish join virtually must register below via Eventbrite. A link will be sent out to registered guests the day of the event. Registration will end Wednesday, July 14 at 5:30 P.M.
