On October 15th at 12:00 PM, with LSU Professor Emeritus Petra Hendry will present Race and Education: Remembering the Forgotten History of the Afro-Franco-Creole Protest Tradition. Learn about Louisiana’s 1868 constitution, which banned segregation in public schools, and dive into the history of Afro-Franco-Creole activism, the influence of the Haitian Revolution, and the role of The Tribune, the first African American daily newspaper, in the fight for integrated education.
