LUNCHTIME LAGNIAPPE! THE ISLENOS OF LOUISIANA
Samantha Perez speaks on the ways modern descendants preserve and practice their traditional culture in the 21st century, tapping into questions about historic preservation, cultural identity after diaspora, and generational divides. Samantha is a resident of St. Bernard Parish and active in preserving her own Isleño roots. She is currently pursuing graduate study at Tulane University, where she will earn her PhD in late medieval/early modern European history. Lunchtime Lagniappe is an ongoing series of brown bag talks that last approximately 30 minutes plus Q&A. Attendees are welcome to come and go as their lunch hour permits. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 342-5428 or visit www.LouisianaStateMuseum.org |
