*Roux's First Day*, a children's book

Bring the little ones and step into the magic of Louisiana storytelling this June! Join the Old Governor's Mansion for a fun-filled afternoon celebrating *Roux's First Day*, a children's book rooted in the folklore and natural beauty of the Bayou State.

The event features a book reading by author Julie Gerdes Becnel, a Louisiana-inspired music class led by Children's Music Studio's Music Together program, and a live illustration demonstration by the book's artist, Cullen Bernard, who will show kids how to draw their favorite characters from the story. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries will also be on hand with a hands-on table of swamp life artifacts, and yes, hatchling alligators will make an appearance! Round out the afternoon with a themed scavenger hunt through the Mansion.
