Solar Eclipse Sidewalk Viewing
Join us for a Solar Eclipse Sidewalk Viewing on Monday, April 8, from 12 PM-3 PM in the Yazoo Plaza!
The total solar eclipse taking place on April 8 will be Baton Rouge’s last chance to view a solar eclipse in the United States until August 23, 2044, with the solar eclipse peaking at an 87% eclipse of the sun at 1:48 PM.
From 12 PM-3 PM in the Yazoo Plaza, the LASM planetarium team will provide downtown Baton Rouge viewers with a solar eclipse-filtered telescope, solar eclipse-filtered binoculars, and will have a limited supply of solar viewing glasses available for purchase at $2 each. The Museum Store is currently selling solar viewing glasses but encourages those interested in purchasing to act fast. The Museum Store will also be open from 12 PM-3PM selling Solar Eclipse Viewing glasses for $2 each while supplies last.
