World AIDS Day RED Gala - “I Am a Work of ART”
Baton Rouge Pride Hosts Second Annual World AIDS Day RED Gala with Theme “I Am a Work of ART”
Baton Rouge Pride is thrilled to invite the community to the second annual World AIDS Day RED Gala, proudly presented by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), on December 5, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Capitol Park Museum. This year’s theme, “I Am a Work of ART,” highlights the transformative power of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and honors the resilience of those living with HIV/AIDS.
The event will feature a special performance by Trinity K. Bonet, renowned star of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6, who has been an outspoken advocate for HIV awareness since her diagnosis in 2012. Known for her captivating stage presence and dedication to breaking stigma, Trinity’s participation brings an empowering message of hope and courage to the evening.
Also speaking is Jeremy Weatherspoon, a Louisiana native whose inspiring journey showcases resilience and advocacy. Diagnosed with HIV in 2002 and on the path of recovery since 2013, Jeremy dedicates his life to empowering others through his advocacy work, proving that a vibrant life is possible with support and courage.
“This event is about raising awareness, fostering hope, and building a stronger community together,” said Bobbi Wisekal, Director of Baton Rouge Pride. “We’re honored to bring voices like Trinity’s and Jeremy’s to the forefront, reminding everyone that with support and understanding, a vibrant life with HIV is possible.”
Attendees will enjoy an evening with a live DJ, art installations from local creators, and delicious offerings from Baton Rouge’s top restaurants. Additionally, all guests will have free access to the Capitol Park Museum as part of their ticket, offering a unique cultural experience. Baton Rouge’s ranking as 5th in the nation for new HIV diagnoses emphasizes the urgent need for awareness and community engagement.
