Roarin’ on the River 3
The Louisiana Veterans Museum Foundation will host Roarin’ on the River 3 on March 24th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The 1940s-themed fundraiser benefits the USS KIDD Veterans Museum and will be held at the Museum, 305 South River Road, in Downtown Baton Rouge. The event will include hors d’oeuvres by Chef John Folse, entertainment by The Victory Belles, and music by the Connor Underwood Quartet. USS KIDD and the shoreside Museum will be available for guests to tour throughout the event.
The 2022 Patriot Award will be presented to Hans Sternberg during the evening. Mr. Sternberg is a graduate of Princeton and completed the Naval ROTC program. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Lieutenant (JG) and served on the USS POLK COUNTY (LST-1084) for two years. After returning to Baton Rouge to help manage his family’s store, Goudchaux’s, he remained active in the US Naval Reserve. Mr. Sternberg was among the initial group of key local leaders who, for several years, worked to make it possible to bring USS KIDD to Baton Rouge. He served as the first Chairman of the Commission. Mr. Sternberg and his family have made substantial contributions to Baton Rouge charities. Past recipients of the Patriot Award are Richard Manship and Richard Lipsey.
